There is a place far-far away where the number of the sheep is more than the number of the people. This is one of the nicest places on our planet. New Zealand has magnificent nature and lovely people. When you arrive after 11 hours flight you will be surprised how good they are taking care of everything.
First comes the passport control, and later the veterinary control which is quite funny because you never expect to be asked if you secretly carry with you a couple of pigeons or plants! This does not come without a reason: Because of New Zealand’s geographical isolation, a unique range of plants and wildlife developed here and logically people are trying to keep all pests away and preserve the natural beauty.
On the first day at your arrival or actually in the first few days you have to handle the jet-leg. It is not easy but once you get over it the exploring the country can start right away.
There many places to see and of course you have to visit the Middle Earth. Even if you are not a LOTR fan, this place is so wonderful that it will take your breath away. Be careful what you do because nature is taken very seriously here (it would be great if more countries act as seriously for nature conservation) and even a small damage can take you to big problems with the authorities.
The distances are relatively big and first you have to rent a car. Be aware that in New Zealand you have to drive on the left side, just like in England. It is quite likely to cause really big troubles when you have to make overturn or just to turn left or right, because your brain is not so used for that and will work in the wrong direction. Give it some time and if you are not sure you can just get on a train or buses which run very regularly.
Outside of the big cities you might see some funny roads signs warning you for some animals which you are able to see only in New Zealand. Pay attention to them unless you do not want to have a close contact with a Kiwi or something bigger.
Soon you will find out that the local people are speaking quite funny English than in Europe or the United States. You will be like “excuse me, can you repeat that again for me, please” for about a week. Of course if you listen very carefully in few days you would not have any problems.
