When girls travel alone, we always should keep in mind that the world is not as safe as we would like it to be. The other day I was speaking to a friend of mine and she was complaining that she went on a business trip, she booked a hotel and then her problems began. First floor room didn’t give her the needed privacy and then obviously someone who knew her room number started knocking at the door and offering some special sex services. I will not comment the situation, the hotel or the country. Instead, here are a few tips to prevent situations like this:

1. Booking hotel: always read some reviews and then make your final choice. Saving money on hotel is good idea as long as this doesn’t affect your life. Select a place where you know (or at least you guess) the visitors are treated with respect.

2. The room: go for something that is not on the first floor, if the hotel is bigger, ask for a room that is on the second-third floor. Asking for a room near the elevator so you won’t need to walk down long, ill-lit hallways to reach your room.

3. At arrival: Select arrival time during the day. Try to look as much informed as you can. Do not share too much personal information, do not ask for room service, because this potentially opens your door to intruders.

4. Filling in forms: do not share whether you are Miss or Mrs, it’s none of their business to know. If possible, do not share your first name.
