There is a story that provoked me to write a few tips for women. The truth is that world is big and girls are not safe everywhere. Sure there are interesting countries and no matter the fact that the levels of crime there are a little higher, this doesn’t mean that women should lock the door and live all their live in a golden cage. Sometimes we have to travel alone to business and sometimes we just need a short break, change the atmosphere and be on or own. Here are a few tips when you travel alone:

1. Destination: always consult Wikipedia or http://travel.state.gov when you leave to a distant place. The tips you’ll find there will help you get oriented in the local culture and habits. Knowing this will help a lot! Some countries are just different, their historical background, political situation or religion shape their way of thinking. In these sites you’ll find tips how to prevent getting in trouble.

2. Dress and fashion: we are girls and we are interested in fashion, it is perfectly normal. We want to look good and we love to feel attractive. However when traveling alone we should never forget that we are exposed to more attention and that there is no one around to help if someone wants… well, something more personal from us. The best you can do is dress conservatively. Even more, at arrival, you can look around and see what local women wear, then go to a shop and select something that you like but won’t distinguish you from the crowd.

3. Travel: always travel during the day. At night it could be beautiful but it is never safe. Darkness can hide millions broken souls and I not recommend you to be one of them. Select flights that are more expensive but arrive during the day. When traveling choose taxis/cabs by companies that guarantee the safety. There are taxi offices on every airport.
