If you are bored and do not know what to do over the weekend, do like Cindy Kovax from Georgia. As she said “I was really bored just hanging out with my friends and we decided to take a plane to Europe”.
We met her in Germany, while jumping happily around after she had just visited Neuschwanstein (http://www.neuschwanstein.com/) , the most popular and picturesque castle in Bavaria. If the image on the picture looks familiar, maybe it is because Disney were so charmed by it that they based on it the Disney World Castle. It looks kind of small once you are there but its totally worth seeing.
The nature around is breathtaking too. So my offer is not to spend the day drinking beer around, but go down the pretty path walks and enjoy the fresh air.
Where else to go?
There is a small village or town very close to the castle and it is nice to walk around and enjoy the local architecture. If you are drink lover, you will be charmed by a few specific landmarks: old fashioned pubs with good beer and friendly people.
How to go there?
The easiest way to go to Neuschwanstein is to take a plane to Munich and then rent a car to the castle. The distance is 60 kilometers and will take you there in approximately 30 minutes. The path to the castle starts in the village of Hohenschwangau, and this is also your last opportunity to park if you are with car. You must buy your tickets for the castle down here too, before you set off for the castle.
Alternatively if you want to take a train travel by public transport, take the (Deutsch Bahn) to Füssen, then bus RVA/OVG 73 direction Steingarden/Garmisch-Partenkirchen or bus RVA/OVG 78 direction Schwangau to Hohenschwangau.
Where to stay?
There is a hotel right next to the castle with rooms for less than 20-30 euros. Do not ask about the name, it was too German, which means typically long and almost unpronounceable. However, the rooms were clean and the service was great.
