Amsterdam deserves its nickname definition of a place of “sex, drugs, and boo’s”. According to many foreigners who have been there, it is the world capital of sinners and to be honest probably the best place for a young traveler. Here is a turbo version of the city if you pass through it and you have less than 24 hours to look around. No sightseeing in the absolute way of sights, but definitely a lot to be done.
It is true that many people go to Am’dam just to explore the myth but at the end they live it. It is really a great place to be, vivid and charming. The discos are amazing and the bars are fabulous. Josh Recently was there and here are his observations.
Places
There is a coffee shop on every corner, so you won’t have trouble finding a place to smoke. You walk in the coffee shop, that is basically a weed bar, and inhale the air and decide that you are in the best place in the whole world. There are some coffee shops that offer special deals like 3 grams of skunk for 20 euro. According to Josh, his favorite coffee shops were the Bulldog, and the Doors café. Why? Good proportion of service and quality.
Sinners
Some drugs here are legal and the average prices per gram cost anywhere from 12 euro to 20 depending on the quality of the herb. Prostitution is legal too, which does not make it cheap pleasure. Josh shared that the hookers are a rip off: 50 Euro for 15 minutes. I think that once, just for the thrill is fine.
Safety
Amsterdam is tourist friendly but foreigners should be careful with the dealers. These are literary everywhere, you leave one behind and across the corner there is another trying to sell you cocaine, heroine or any other substance. If you look at them and act as a foreigner, surely you will be ripped off, because they will follow you until you get into a real trouble with them. The best thing you can do in cases like this is to say NE [ne:], extend the sound of the E to sound more Dutch-like and just look busy, in a hurry and on your way to somewhere.
