The longed summer is marked by extreme heats but unfortunately sun is not always good to us. Often many people suffer Hyperthermia, also called sunstroke. That is an acute condition which occurs when the body produces or absorbs more heat than it can dissipate. Each man is different and hence the predisposal to hyperthermia varies from one human to another and depends on the duration of the sun exposal and the general health condition.
Symptoms
Heat exhaustion is the first step to the sunstroke. Usually people become confused and even hostile, they suffer headache. Their temperature rises into 40C and it is extremely dangerous for the body and especially the brain. Dehydration is very dangerous too. Sweat furthers cooling and when the body is dehydrated, it can’t produce sweat and the heat conquers it. Dehydration such as that accompanying heat stroke can produce nausea and vomiting; temporary blindness may also be observed. Eventually, as body organs begin to fail, unconsciousness and coma will result.
Prevention
All you need is common sense to prevent the hyperthermia. Wear loose-fitting clothing and wide-brimmed hats. Wear light colors, especially white. Avoid heavy exhersices and exposing on sun. Last but not least, drink a lot of liquids, but avoid concentrated alcohol.
