If you happen to visit Bratislava, probably you will have something in mind about the old socialistic times and the specific lifestyle in the 70’s and 80’s. In addition, the hotel has absolutely east-oriented name, it is called Kyjev (like Kiev, the capital of Ukraine). At least I do! I was really surprised to find this hotel in the center of Bratislava so I couldn’t stop it, I did it and I book a night there.

The best thing is that it is one of the tallest buildings in the touristic center of Bratislava. It is within walking distance from the bus station and the only problem I had while dragging my suitcase around the streets was the pavement. However, it is always possible to get lost even in a small place like Bratislava so at one moment I lost confidence and I stopped a guy on the street asking him where am I and where is this hotel? I found that people in Bratislava are absolutely friendly because this guy was walking in the other direction but he said that he’ll guide me to there, so we crossed a few streets and indeed, there it was, Kyjev Hotel.

In front of the hotel there is huge square busy with people. You will recognize that you’re close by the people carrying Tasco bags.

The hotel is really worn out, everything looks used for decades. The good news is that is clean and that there are no insects.

The door lock is unique, it is loke one of those old fairy tale big keys.

If you’re lucky enough, you can enjoy the best in the hotel - its view from the window over the city!
