Still thinking about the recent security measures I’ve been told a story from a friend of mine who recently visited US. Her boyfriend is after his studies in medicine there and she decided to visit him as a birthday present (her birthday). She travels a lot and she has stamps in her passport like United Arab Emirates and Russia.
So on her birthday she catches a flight and travels 12 hours to meet her fiance. Nice up to here.
At Boston’s airport she passes the security. The security guy doesn’t speak much but looks upset by the stamps in her pass, especially those by UAE. He asks, she explains. We all travel by business but he seems to disagree. So he calls other security guys and they take my friend to a cold disgusting room without any feedback what’s the problem and how long she’s going to stay there. No telephones. No connection.
She spent there about 4 hours. Totally isolated if we do not count other people in the same situation - but some of them under suspicion for drugs and so on. Meanwhile outside her boyfriend waiting and getting totally crazy because nobody is giving him information whether she got off the plane and all.
Finally an officer came and took her for another interrogation. Which finished with the officer saying America doesn’t need more medical specialists and she saying that they won’t plan to stay in this country for longer either way. They finally let her go.
Have you had similar negative experience with airport security? Was is because of a stamp from a “bad-bad” country or there were other reasons? What happened?
